Patio & Outdoor Living FAQ
Materials, timing, permits, upkeep and getting started. Answers to the questions we hear most.
Call us today615-357-7797What patio materials do you build with?
We build with interlocking pavers, natural stone, brick and stamped or poured concrete, and decks in composite or wood. We help you choose based on your style, your yard and your budget. See our materials guide.
Do you offer free design consultations?
Yes. We walk your property, listen to how you want to use the space and talk through layouts, materials and features. Schedule yours by calling 615-357-7797 or sending us a message.
Are you licensed and insured?
Music City Patio & Outdoor Living is a licensed and insured general contractor, so you can feel confident that your project is covered. Ask us for details.
How long does a patio or outdoor kitchen take?
It depends on the size and the features. A simple patio goes quickly, while kitchens, fireplaces, walls and pools take longer. We give you a realistic schedule after your consultation.
Do I need a permit?
Requirements vary by city and by the scope of the project. We can tell you what to expect for your address and help with the process.
Can I build my outdoor living space in phases?
Yes. We plan the whole space first so each phase fits together, then you can build the patio now and add the kitchen, fire feature or cover later.
What areas do you serve?
We serve Nashville and 21 Middle Tennessee cities, including Franklin, Brentwood, Hendersonville, Gallatin, Mt. Juliet, Murfreesboro, Smyrna and Lebanon. If your city is not listed, call us.
Can you fix or replace my existing patio?
Yes. We lift and re-set sunken pavers, repair or replace concrete, clean and seal surfaces and rebuild patios that are beyond repair. See Patio Repair, Cleaning & Sealing.
How do I get started?
Call 615-357-7797 or use the form on this page to schedule a free consultation. You can also try our free planning tools before we meet.
Pavers or stamped concrete?
Both look great. Pavers are repairable and have joints, and stamped concrete is a seamless surface with the look of stone. Our materials guide and Pattern & Color Studio help you compare.
Do you offer payment options?
Ask us about payment options for your project. Our Budget & Payment Planner shows a simple planning example, which is not a quote or credit offer.
What makes patios last in Tennessee?
A compacted base, good drainage, edge restraints and quality materials. Middle Tennessee’s clay soils, heavy rain and freeze-thaw cycles make base preparation and drainage especially important.
When is the best time to build?
Spring and fall are popular, but we build in much of the year. Planning in winter lets you book a spring start, and we can talk through timing for your project.
Can you match my home’s brick or stone?
We can match or complement existing materials so a new patio, wall or fireplace looks like it has always belonged. Bring photos or invite us to look in person.
Do you build outdoor kitchens with gas and electric?
Yes. We plan gas, electric and water lines as part of the build, with safe clearances and drainage.
Will my HOA need to approve it?
Many neighborhoods require approval for outdoor structures. We can provide plans and renderings to support your HOA submission.
Do you offer maintenance?
Yes. We offer patio repair, cleaning and sealing, and can recommend a care schedule for your surfaces.
